Gemma & Nick’s Wedding – New Years Eve 2011

Gemma and Nick’s wedding was probably one of our most technically challenging to date, but somehow also the most relaxed. The challenges were the fact that the ceremony was taking place at 3pm, in the middle of winter, giving us some interesting lighting, but also the fact that it rained for most of the day.

However, despite the bridal car breaking down on its way to the beautiful Lanhydrock Church, everything on the day seemed to run perfectly smoothly, and on time. Gemma and Nick were very relaxed (on the outside at least) and great fun to work with. Their wedding had a vintage feel running throughout it, topped off with an amazing juke box at the reception. (I WANT ONE OF THOSE!)

The preparations and reception were held at the Trehellas House Hotel, in Washaway. The ‘Courtroom Suite’ was absolutely stunning, and gave us some great opportunities for some photo’s. Aimiee stayed up there with the girls, while I went downstairs with the guys, getting the serious shots…

Not usually on our ‘must take’ list, but Nick tells us that everybody will now be asking us for the ‘Wedding Pants’ shot!

The guys posing outside for a dramatic group shot…

Once at the church, the rain persisted, meaning we finally got to use our umbrellas we have been carrying for the last 18 months! (cue Morcambe & Wise)

Nick and his best man Andy, who will be appearing on this blog in the summer!

Lanhydrock church was absolutely beautiful, as was the service given by the very entertaining Father Graham.

After the ceremony we snuck into Lanhydrock House for some shots around the Christmas Tree and open fire. We also tried an experiment with a Bauball while we were there. The jury is still out, but let us know what you think!

The umbrella theme continued once we were back outside, until we got back to Trehellis, and got some shots up in the Courtroom Suite.

Soon Gemma, Nick and their guests started the party to see them all into the new year…

A great way to end what was a great year for us. We are really looking forward to showing Gemma and Nick all of their photo’s from the day, and are also planning on creating a new demo album using some of their pics.

Happy New Year everyone!
=)

an end of year update…

We would like to start this post with a massive thank you to everybody who has supported us over this last year. It has absolutely flown by, and so much has changed for us it’s unreal!
There have been times we have had to stop ourselves running away with ideas, and times where we have really questioned our sanity, but we are deffinately entering 2012 with some new ideas, some MASSIVE ambitions, and a list of creative ideas we are working on.

We are now running our New Year wedding offer, with 10% discount on our wedding photography, and also off our amazing ‘Wedding Book’ range from Graphi. This offer runs from now until the end of March.

We developed some new products over the last couple of months, which have proved to be extremely popular, and we will be looking to add a few more in March, after this years Focus show.

We are hoping to carry out some personal projects this year, if we can find the time, including some model portfolio work, looking into a new ‘Noir’ style to add to our range, and something a little different to the norm.

Hope you all have an amazing 2012, and we look forward to seeing you throughout the year.

Sam & Chris’s Wedding – Alternun & Lakeview – Cornwall Wedding Photography

Sam & Chris Johnson’s Wedding Photo’s, Sneak Peek!

23rd Sept 2011

We thought we would share a sneak peek of some of the photo’s from Sam & Chris’s wedding!
It was a beautifully sunny day, and the cool of the church at Alternun was much appreciated duing the ceremony!

Their reception was held at Lakeview Country Club where Louise and her team did an amazing job on the function room.
Sam had a vision of a ‘Vintage Chic’ style, and pulled it off amazingly, with hanging lanterns, vintage sweets and countless little details (especially the cup cakes!)

Sam & Chris also requested our ever popular ‘Photo Booth’, along with all the props (including the new ones!)
This turned out to be great fun, and had us all in stitches throughout the night.

The band they had were amazing, and had everyone dancing, including one of the youngest we have seen dancing to rock at a wedding! (photo below)
There was one lady who wasn’t all that keen, who we were urgently told to come and secretly photograph, as she was sat at the front with her fingers in her ears!

Lydia & James’s Wedding in St Austell and Newquay, 10th Sept 2011

Lydia and James’s wedding was possibly one of the longest we have done to date.
They had us from preparations, through to the Photo Booth in the evening. As photographers, this is great for us, as it means we get so many great shots throughout the day, but it required a large amount of red bull and sugary snacks!

I met up with James at the Great Western Hotel in Newquay, where I found him, his best man and ushers watching the England rugby match. Unfortunately this meant I had to watch the match with them, to see England come back to beat Argentina 13-9 !

Getting back to the serious business of the wedding, I joined the guys upstairs in the Honeymoon Suite, as they got ready for the day. The views were amazing over the bay, and the large windows also helped with the light!

There were many exciting moments, with faulty irons, fire alarms and of course the cravats. One of the funniest moments of the day was when it was time to put on the cravats. As the following sequence shows, after many attempts by many people, the inevitable happened, and they resorted to YouTube, followed by a call to Mum!

Meanwhile, while we were all busy having fun at the hotel, Aimiee was over in St Austell with the Lydia and her bridal party, busy getting ready for their big day.

The ceremony was held at the Holy Trinity Church in St Austell. That is a pretty big church and it was packed! Before Lydia arrived, I had the guys practicing their catalogue poses, which took very little prompting. Aimiee turned up shortly before the Bridal party, and we took up our positions. The ceremony was beautiful, with a great reading and speech from Lydia’s Dad John.

After the ceremony we stole Lydia and James and went to a local park area for their signature shoot. Despite the cold, they soldiered on until we finally left them on their own for some peace and made our way over to Newquay for the reception.

We whizzed over to the Great Western in Newquay, to speak to Michelle, their wedding co-ordinator, who we must thank for her help both on the day and the week leading up to it!
After a very humourous best mans speech, and our first mention in a speech from the groom (Thanks James!) we set to work setting up the photo booth.
Having carried out an engagement shoot with James and Lydia, we knew they were slightly crazy, as I’m sure they would agree. They will be glad to know their friends kept up the good work on the night, and there are some great photo booth shots!

After the first dance, James sang a pretty impressive version of  ‘Hold On’ to Lydia, and the party began. The whole day was incredibly relaxed and they were both great fun to work with, and we look forward to showing them all of their photo’s soon, and wish them both all the best in their new life together!

We have moved…

It has been nearly 5 months now since our last blog, but I promise we will get better.

As you can see, our blog has now moved. This is due to technical issues with integrating it into our other social media platforms etc…

We will shortly be blogging our events as each one happens, meaning you can see previews of the pictures, way before they are all finished.
This will be starting tonight hopefully, with Lydia & James’s wedding pics!!!

A quick update on us; This has proven to be a crazily busy summer for us, and we are looking forward to a well deserved break next week!
Weddings are now slowing down for the year, but we are not forgetting the few we have left, including our New Years Eve wedding!

Our portrait photo shoots are still very popular. This has helped us add an even bigger range of products to our line, and we are even in the process of developing a bespoke framing solution to one of our clients at the moment, which is pretty exciting!

A final update on this post, we are now actively tweeting! If you would like to follow us, our name is @anaphotography

Speaks soon!!
